Privacy Policy
How DealMatch collects, uses and protects your information under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
Last updated: June 2026
1. Who we are
DealMatch (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates dealmatch.co.nz, an information and matching platform for New Zealand business-for-sale listings, private-equity portfolio activity and corporate divestments. We are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 and its Information Privacy Principles.
2. Information we collect
- Account details — your name and email address when you create an account.
- Buyer criteria — the acquisition criteria you enter to build a buyer mandate, such as sectors, regions, deal size and similar preferences.
- Usage information — the pages and listings you view, and basic technical data such as your browser type and a session identifier, needed to operate and improve the service.
3. How we use your information
We use your information to provide and operate the service — including generating buyer-to-listing matches and sending you the match or alert emails you have opted into — to respond to your enquiries, and to maintain and improve the platform. We only use it for those purposes, or as otherwise permitted under the Privacy Act.
4. Listing and market data
Listings, portfolio and divestment information shown on DealMatch is aggregated from publicly available sources and third-party websites. This is business information rather than personal information about you, and is provided for general information only (see our Terms of Use).
5. Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information. We may share it with trusted service providers who help us run the platform — for example cloud hosting and email delivery — who may only use it to provide those services to us. We may also disclose information where required by law.
6. Storage, security and overseas hosting
We take reasonable steps to keep your information secure. Information is held on reputable cloud infrastructure, which may store data on servers located outside New Zealand; where it does, we take reasonable steps to ensure comparable privacy safeguards apply.
7. Accessing and correcting your information
Under the Privacy Act you may ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you and request that we correct it. Contact us using the details below and we will respond as soon as we reasonably can.
8. Cookies
We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies that are necessary to keep you signed in and to operate the site. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not work without them.
9. Marketing and unsubscribing
If you opt in to match or alert emails, you can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any such email, consistent with the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007. We will action unsubscribe requests promptly.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date above shows when it was most recently changed.
11. Contact us
If you have any questions, or wish to access or correct your information, please get in touch. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner (privacy.org.nz).
